LAS VEGAS -- Proponents say medical marijuana is beneficial in treating a wide array of ailments because it can alleviate pain and stimulate the appetite, which is why its been used in medicine for 3,000 years.

The DEA interprets the law by lumping hemp in with marijuana. The. way the feds see it, both plants belong to the cannabis family. Both contain the psychoactive ingredient THC. Both are illegal. Nevermind. that the level of THC in hemp is miniscule.
Joshua Hester pleaded guilty on January 3, 2012 to eight counts including conspiracy to distribute over 1,000 kilograms of marijuana, conspiracy to maintain drug-related premises, and conspiracy to launder money. Hester was sentenced to 100 months in custody by U.S. District Judge Irma Gonzalez on January 24, 2013.
Hester will serve over eight years in federal custody for operating Kush Lounge and Green Kross Collective. Since October 2011, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, in coordination with the Drug Enforcement Administration, has issued cease and desist letters to about 253 marijuana dispensaries in the San Diego County and Imperial County. The Department of Justice reports that there was a 95 percent self-closure rate in response to the letters. Fourteen remaining dispensaries in the San Diego area were raided in September 2009.
a judge could overrule that agreement and send Warner to prison when he is sentenced in October.

SAN DIEGO — A longtime San Diego criminal defense attorney admitted Tuesday that he laundered $100,000 in drug proceeds for the owner of a marijuana dispensary and tried to tamper with a potential witness in the case.
Everything was going smoothly until federal authorities learned T.K. had reopened his marijuana dispensary in San Diego. They raided him again in March 2013.
While the case was prosecuted by Walker Hobson, who is based in San Diego, it was supervised by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles after the local office was recused.
